The supertrapp is great.I have all 8 disks on, the end cap That I have on is the solid piece; you can buy an open end piece to make it louder though in doing so you change the performance a bit.
The more compressed the air flow the better; less compressed air, losses torque and power.This is not saying add more than 8 disks. The supertrapp is designed to accommodate no more than 8 disks after that there is no added benefit. One may repack with stuffed steeledwool for a more authoritative sound though actual peak response may be altered.
Go to the supertrapp site and read on designing and frequently asked questions, this should help you.As for as sound it really isn't abusive or overwhelming, I would add the steelwool; though, I ride alot at nite and I have neighbors to consider, sometimes Coming in at 2 or 1 in the mourning. (Theres so much more freedom at nite)The stars the nite air its great. Anyway my baby says," it now sounds like it should be reackon with." It does.
People in Tex do ride with they'er windows up but it doesn't hinder sound. I drive with my windows up 85% of the time.I hear dampened sounds and traffic well.
